Particularly in light of the IPCC report, this bill should not pass. For the case of all Canadians, especially the disadvantaged Canadians that will most acutely feel the negative impact of climate change, this bill should not pass. We need to reduce carbon emissions by 45% by 2030 in order to keep climate change increases to 1.5 degrees Celcius, beyond which the world will be facing extreme crises related to climate change. Canada will not be immune to these changes - droughts, sea level rise, hurricanes, the death of various ecosystems. Ontario has a responsibility to the rest of the country and beyond to not exacerbate the biggest challenge of the 21st century. I am a university student, I am not studying anything related to the environment, but I am representative of my peers in thinking that this is something that everyone should care about.
