There can't be a good reason or data backing the proposal to remove bike lanes. It's counterintuitive. My son who lives in Toronto was seriously hurt when he was forced to take the main road instead of the bike lane that was under construction. Once the new bike lane was in place he was able to resume safely riding to work. More roads, more vehicle lanes are not going to solve this problem. Invest in better transit systems and keep cycling safe.
