Won't getting rid of the bike lanes just push cyclists onto the road, causing even more gridlock and cyclist deaths? And won't ripping up the bike lanes just cause even more construction, only for the next government to reverse the decision and put them back again? There is no solution to gridlock in Toronto or other major cities that only involves accommodating more cars; the only option is to give people better options than driving, which we already have most of the infrastructure for, just not the service or maintenance budget.
