This proposal will have negative implications on our community. This company has already been forced to move their business due to improper storage. It will force a number of people to move due to the odours and could put our water supply in jeopardy. Unfortunately those people will take a loss on the sale of their home. What air scrubber technology is required for this facility? Will they need an RTO, bio filter, coldox, flare, etc.? How many fines will they receive for smell complaints before they get shut down? Just because the land is zoned incorrectly does not mean the community should suffer. There are surrounding businesses that are long standing who will see significant negative consequences from this business opening up. Why don’t the owners live in our community? Because they want to be as far away from the odour as possible. They don’t even live in Middlesex County! They are in Lambton Kent, far enough away to not suffer the implications of their business. This is a mistake. I have personal experience with both the owners and the waste industry. I am a strong believer that bill 197 was brought in with little to no public education on waste management, however it should apply to this facility as well. No it is not a landfill, however surrounding communities should have a say on a business of this nature being built in their municipality. It will deter families from joining our wonderful community.
