I just want to say that it is absolutely appalling, especially after the release of yesterday's IPCC report on the existential threat that climate change poses to all of us, that the Government of Ontario intends to proceed with a repeal of the cap and trade system, ESPECIALLY without any sort of real replacement. We have clear and compelling evidence that we are on a path to absolute ruination, and this kind of cheap political stunting is almost criminal in its short-termism. Cap and trade is a reasonable and realistic approach - not enough on its own, but at least an acknowledgment of the scope of the problem.

If you are to proceed with this repeal, develop an alternate plan that is as good, if not better, in terms of addressing Ontario's carbon footprint. A simple requirement that the Minister develop and provide updates on a climate plan is absurdly ineffective in light of the crisis that we are staring down.
