Climate change is one of the most important issues facing society today. The Act that is being repealed is a market based solution that is providing real opportunities for Ontarians to become more environmentally friendly and reduce climate change. The economies of California and Quebec are doing very well, so to suggest that this act and cap and trade is harmful to the economy is an outright lie.
The Climate Change and Low Carbon Economy Act provides for targets, is part of a more extensive framework and put money in the pockets of Ontario families as they take action for reducing climate change. The reductions in pricing for carbon fuels will only encourage more use. The pricing increases were so minimal and when considered as part of the natural fluctuations in pricing had little impact on Ontario families compared to the significant benefits felt by climate friendly actions. Personally my family benefitted while cutting our carbon emissions by over 25 tonnes per year through a heat pump and EV's. We are well on our way to helping out with this crisis thanks to the funding provided by the EVHIP and GreenON programs.
This government is failing Ontario and the world by ignoring this problem. This government came in with a plan for buck a beer, but no plan for one of the most important issues of our time. It's embarrassing at best. History will not be kind to the cowards, not leaders, who fail to take action on this issue.
This government is making a sham of all of this and should be shamed for generations to come.
