I would like to register my dismay at the Doug Ford Conservative government's decision to repeal the Green Energy Act. This month the UN's International Panel on Climate Change released a report warning that if stringent action is not taken immediately to curb the production of greenhouse gases there will be catastrophic effects on the planet as early as 2040. As well the Nobel Prize for economics was awarded to William Nordhaus who argues that a carbon tax is the best way to address global warming. Given these two events, I believe it is essential that our provincial government enact policies that create incentives to expedite further development of alternative energy such as wind and solar. I have three young grandsons. Their future depends upon it.
