You put the onus on the average citizen to prove to the Ontario government that there is demand for renewable power before they have approval to proceed. How do you expect the average citizen to forecast what the Ontario power needs are? The Ontario Power Authority is the expert in this matter and they should be the ones that put restrictions that regulate growth of the renewable energy economy. Why is the Ford government so focused on stopping progress in this province?
Why would you give the Lieutenant Governor in Council the authority to make decision regarding Renewable Energy Approvals. That person does not have the knowledge regarding this issue. The person in charge of these decision should be closely familiar with Environment and the power demands of Ontario, not an appointed representative of the Queen. Leave the governing body and setup as is. Don't disassemble the framework, if you don't want to grow that business then don't capacity to the grid, killing the act would effectively deprive Ontarians of well paying renewable jobs in this province. This government is demonstrating that they are not interested in competing on the world market putting Ontario at disadvantage economically and environmentally. 1998 was a very long time ago. Times have changed and so has the environment.
Do not Repeal the Green Energy Act at least allow it to continue as is until a better plan is ready to be put in its place.
