The removal of the Toronto bike lanes is a policy travesty and a waste of money.
First and foremost, if the premier wants to be mayor of Toronto, he should do what everyone else has done in the past and run for the mayoralty of the city.
More fundamentally, more lanes for cars and by extension removal of bike lanes and public transit, has been repeatedly demonstrated to at best make traffic no worse than before and at worse make travel delays even worse. It has been repeatedly demonstrated by research and empirical evidence to the point where at this point it ought to be a truism.
Besides that, we are currently a province which has demonstrated itself reluctant to actually maintain infrastructure and health care. It would be much better to spend the money on that than the premier's latest boondoggle.
