Bicycle infrastructure is an essential cornerstone of sustainable and equitable cities, and this is moving us backwards decades. Not only should we support active transportation as the real way to reduce car traffic and "save time," as has been proven time and time again, but this proposal also sets us back years as it forces any development planned along Yonge St and Ellington Ave to redesign in a major way, losing years of progress and work. Prioritizing car drivers is a very outdated and long-debunked urban planning strategy that has failed every major city in North America. This proposal is a huge setback for Toronto and must be scratched.
