I support the moratorium on water bottling permits.
Ontario water is safe. There is no need for bottled water.
The Nestle facility at Aberfoyle produces the equivalent of a billion 500ml plastic bottles annually.
An alarmingly large number, 250,000,000, are not recycled and end up in the environment... and that is just from one source of production.
A number of communities in Ontario rely on water from local aquifers. Water taking for commercial purposes has the potential to threaten the future needs of those communities.
Water taking for commercial bottling must be phased out.
