We should take the time to not only consider extending the moratorium for the foreseeable, but also consider the impact of continued provision of bottled water. It's baffling that people are up-in-arms about plastic straws but no one sees an issue with single-use plastic such as bottled water. Bottled water? Seriously? Why is that even a thing.
There is also the growing of the entire area to consider and the strain of increased requirement and access to the (finite) available water. Priorities are skewed.
Given the tough stance this government has taken in other areas, it would be heartening to see them step up to big business, tell them not only do they not merit access to water, but that they are part of a larger problem in the damaging of the planet.
