Shutting down the White Pines Wind project does not make sense.
Any environmental effects it may have had on the Blandings turtle have already occurred, and removing any work done will probably have a further damaging effect rather then lessening any previous ones, or any effects from maintaining the wind project.
Cancelling an agreement with a business leaves Ontario open to lawsuits, and the taxpayers of Ontario on the hook for the cost. This is clearly breaking the promise of the current government to take care of our tax dollars and eliminate waste.
Cancelling a business agreement also sends a message that Ontario is NOT "open for business".
Green energy has become a necessity. We can no longer ignore the effects of fossil fuels and climate change. Cancelling a green energy project that is well underway does not make sense.
