Removing bike lanes to add more car lanes will induce demand, undoing whatever benefit is realized by the new lanes in the short term. The solution to road congestion is not more roads.
Alternatives to cars like bicycles, or improvements to mass transit options, will improve commute times. Perhaps we should get rid of HOV or transit lanes too?
