The province is attempting to overstep into municipal issues with this bill as bike lanes are firmly a municipal issue.
Bike lanes are largely successful and beloved by residents across the city, as they provide safe alternative transportation which our city desperately needs.
Spending tax payer money to REMOVE useful infrastructure is a wasteful and expensive proposal.
Time and time again infrastructure studies have shown that more lanes do not reduce traffic, as people habits adapt to match the provided infrastructure. Removing bike lanes would have the same effect, eventually more cars will be on these main routes and the traffic will be just as bad if not worse than it is now.
