I am extremely upset with parts of the proposal. Limiting equestrian activities in the Uxbridge urban provincial park is extremely disheartening, and for such a large equestrian population much of the reason horses are in this area is to have access to trails. Limiting equestrian activities will cause people to relocate.
The included fact that horses must wear manure bags is absolutely insane. Unless the city wants to send out free manure bags for every horse this is a ridiculous inclusion into the plan. Manure bags were made for carriage horses and typically attach to harnesses. This will inhibit the use of our tack and may require further modification. This also inhibits the free use of the horses tail, which they need to keep flys and other bugs off. Horses manure has no dangerous contents but rather help the land regenerate and bring helpful nutrients that plants need to grow. This is absurd to revert back to and require.
Uxbridge has a thriving equestrian community and limiting access and making it more difficult for people to get out and enjoy the trails is beyond me. I strongly oppose this plan and recommend that if this is brought forward those changes are made. Taking a look into the people of uxbridge and realizing who lives in your backyard will clearly demonstrate this plan alienates over half of the population. I hope this is taken into consideration and adjusted accordingly.
