I am submitting my feedback on the proposal to install an interim combined sewer as part of the development at 955 Lake Shore Boulevard (Ontario Place). I strongly oppose this plan, as it contradicts the City of Toronto’s long-standing efforts to separate and upgrade sewers to reduce raw sewage discharge into Lake Ontario. Such a move undermines critical initiatives aimed at safeguarding water quality and protecting the Great Lakes ecosystem, which are supported by international agreements.
This plan poses significant risks to public health through degraded water quality at beaches and fishing areas, as well as harming the lake’s appeal as a destination for visitors from across Canada and beyond. At a time when biodiversity is under threat, prioritizing private sector gains over environmental sustainability and public interest is unacceptable.
