We are in a climate crisis! Reducing overall greenhouse gas emissions should be the primary focus, over and above all other concerns. Affordability in space and water heating (e.g. cold climate heat pumps), as well as electricity generation, can be accomplished using electricity and other green methods without having to increase GHG emissions. Locally generated renewable energy, e.g. solar and wind, with battery storage systems to help with peak load management, is the proper path forward. Focusing on natural gas will not solve the climate or affordability problems, only increase GHG emissions and make the climate and health issues worse. In addition, the proposal to focus on natural gas is clearly politically motivated and looks like is was written by Enbridge at Doug Ford's request and bears no resemblance to reality.
