I am writing to express my opposition to the proposal for an interim combined sewer to support development at 955 Lake Shore Boulevard (Ontario Place). This proposal undermines decades of efforts by the City of Toronto to separate and replace combined sewers, which are essential to preventing raw sewage from being discharged into Lake Ontario. It also contravenes international agreements aimed at protecting water quality and habitats in the Great Lakes.

The proposed effluent poses significant risks to human health, potentially impacting water quality at beaches, fishing activities, and the overall appeal of the lake as a destination for both Canadian and international visitors. Furthermore, the province has failed to engage in any public consultation regarding this project, excluding the general public from an important decision that affects shared natural resources.

Prioritizing private sector initiatives at the expense of public interest jeopardizes the lake's ecosystem, especially during a time of critical biodiversity loss. I urge you to deny this permit to protect Lake Ontario and the broader Great Lakes region.
