@ONTARIOPLACE4ALL I oppose the proposal to use an interim combined sewer at Ontario Place, 955 Lakeshore Blvd. This proposal goes against the City of Toronto's long term plan to replace combined sewers across the city to prevent discharge of raw sewage. Water quality in all Ontario lakes and rivers is paramount to guard human health and prevent discharge from affecting the health and biodiversity of the marine ecosystems and all their natural inhabitants. The lake is key to attracting and maintaining Lake Ontario as an attractive tourist destination that brings in billions in tourism dollars. This proposal goes against our international agreements to protect water quality, habitat quality and biodiversity. Pollution will not only affect our lake, our relationship with our US neighbour, it will cause downstream pollution through the St Lawrence River affecting other cities and the pollution will eventually flow to the Atlantic ocean, already a compromised ecosystem. The Ontario Place redevelopment already compromises the value of these waterfront lands which were to be developed for all Ontarians, to use as parkland, for a foreign commercial interest.
