Greenwin Corp. strongly supports Spotlight’s Request for a Minister’s Zoning Order to facilitate the development of an affordable housing and mixed-use building in the heart of Toronto’s Black Creek community. As a fellow developer and operator of market and affordable housing in Ontario - including this neighbourhood - we recognize the urgent need for large-scale, inclusive housing solutions in the face of our ongoing affordability crisis.
Spotlight’s proposed development represents a vital opportunity to deliver affordability at scale, creating much-needed homes for individuals and families in one of Canada’s most challenging rental markets. The inclusion of mixed-use spaces not only enhances the vibrancy of the community but also ensures that residents have access to essential services, green spaces, and employment opportunities—all critical elements of thriving, inclusive communities.
In today’s climate, where rental prices continue to rise and affordable options become increasingly scarce, this project is incredibly important. By working to provide a range of housing options in an area with high demand, Spotlight is helping to address both the immediate housing crisis and the long-term need for sustainable, diverse communities in Toronto.
