I am so disappointed in our government and environmental policies to see that this assessment can be so easily dismissed so Toronto’s garbage can move into small lesser important towns. I feel the voices of the small towns are muffled by progress and government. Our town will have to put up with the smell of Torontos garbage as it is only 3 km away. Our high school children ( which is within the 3 km of this landfill) will forever think of government and Toronto as powers that will overstep to get what they want. Our farmers grow our food on this land and our drinking water comes from this source. We presently had a spring rainfall of over 3 inches and Molly creek ran into the sydenham river. The ConAgra facility had to develop a rainwater runoff this last season.
There are many other places with clay bases that would make a better solution to the Toronto garbage situation. Please do NOT use our farmland for your garbage. Open up other more suitable areas where people will not complain.
