While it is important we continue to expand our infastructure and build more homes, this proposal is a step too far in undermining our relations with indigenous groups. By allowing private figures to begin expansion and development into previously protected land, this will ultimately undermine many of these group's soverienties. This would destroy any good relations the province has built with these communities over the last few years.
I also understand that it is important to expodite a backlog of requests to quickly develop the required infastructure needed to meet demand. Certain concerns, including ecollogical sustainability, needs to be intact to maintain balanced co-existance with potential expansion into ecosystems. Waste and Sewage plans, which I understand would greatly benefit from this proposal, must not be taken lightly and rushed to completion. These require extensive planning, coordination, and research to safely implement. Minimizing risk to the enviroment and people occupying or using these services.
While I urge the province to continue looking for potential bureaucratic challenges in the current system, the relationship with our indigenous groups and potential public health concerns should remain at the forefront of your consideration.
