The Ontario government’s recent rollbacks on environmental protections are already showing consequences. Just look at what’s happening in the city: coyotes are appearing in neighborhoods, schoolyards, and parks. Why? Because when Ontario Place was gutted without proper environmental assessments or habitat mitigation, we destroyed a natural buffer without thinking about what would replace it.
This isn’t just poor planning — it’s negligence. And it’s part of a pattern: cutting environmental protections to fast-track development, without understanding (or caring about) the ripple effects on wildlife, safety, and the long-term health of our communities.
We deserve smarter leadership — one that values sustainability over short-term deals.
