It is incredibly shortsighted to remove protections for animals and our environment to fast track other projects - recent years have seen unprecedented weather shifts and encroachment of wild animals into urban areas as a result of destruction of their habitats. If housing and highways must be built on land, it is worth researching the area and doing the proper studies to protect our wildlife - if one area is taking too long because it has endangered species, we shouldn't be building there! We have so much wasted space in suburban and single family homes that can be converted into multi unit buildings for housing density, we don't need to destroy habitats for this. This proposal is short-sighted, dangerous, and quite frankly, stupid and greedy.
