As a registered voter residing in Northumberland County I oppose any changes to the Endangered Species Act. These species are endangered due to human interference first and foremost and removing the protections placed almost 20 years ago is wrong.
Myself and other Ontario residents are assuming this proposal is being put forward to push the 413 project through. I believe this will also set a precedent for other projects the Ford government wishes to put forth in Greenbelt lands, which I do not agree with.
While projects like the 413 benefits a large number of people, efforts must be made to ensure wildlife is minimally impacted by erosion, water quality degradation, and watershed path changes. Adequate habitat remediation must place to protect the endangered animals at the bottom of the food chain (as we all learned in elementary school) it eventually effects humans.
