I am firmly opposed to removing environmental assessment requirements for the Eagle’s Nest mine. This project lies in Ontario’s ecologically sensitive Ring of Fire—home to endangered species and globally significant wetlands. The scope of the project demands more—not less—scrutiny. Removing oversight here sets a dangerous precedent. If environmental review isn’t required here, where will it be?

Ontario’s natural heritage, biodiversity, and environmental integrity are not obstacles to growth—they are foundations of a healthy, sustainable future. I urge the government to reject all proposals that weaken environmental protection, and instead strengthen our commitment to ecological stewardship, transparency, and public engagement.
