The approach to the protection and conservation of species at risk SHOULD be complicated, and it should take a lot of effort and expertise to decide how a new building development impacts the ecology of our province.
You have no business changing any part of the endangered species act unless it is specifically recommended by an expert in endangered species and their role in the ecological health of our environment.
We humans depend on the health of the environment for clean water, clean air, and the success of our agriculture to grow food for us. Overbuilt developments have encroached too much on wildlife habitat and prime agricultural land for far too long, and we are losing that which many of you can’t begin to comprehend the value of until it is too late and impossible to save.
Figure out how to use the land you’ve already ruined in a smarter way.
Sincerely,
Two biologists who care about the future.
