Extremely disappointed by this new piece of legislation. This is a page out of the Trump handbook - using a crisis to unnecessarily steamroll over meaningful existing legislation and Indigenous rights. Preserving archaeological and heritage sites is a source of economic wealth, as well as cultural wealth. Due to lack of due process, it seems all the more possible that workers will encounter artefacts and will either destroy or seize them. The location of these 'economic zones' will be near or on Indigenous lands - this is a massive step away from reconciliation. The act is clearly in violation of Indigenous Charter Rights.
