My husband and I fully support the extension of the moratorium. As rural homeowners who rely on our own well for water, we are acutely aware of this precious commodity and never take it for granted. Water is life and is not an infinite resource but with the increase in all types of development, including residential, gravel pits, golf courses and ski hills with larger snow making capabilities than ever before, one would think quite the opposite is the normal view. Droughts are becoming a fact of climate change as well as unstable winters where lakes are not always freezing over therefor allowing for more evaporation to take place. Add to that the concrete jungle expanding throughout Ontario and severe rainstorms causing huge run off situations where the rain cannot seep into the ground to recharge the ground water and it is adding up to significant future water problems.
Water in plastic bottles has become an environmental scourge on the planet and should not be used except in areas where clean water cannot be obtained any other way, not for privileged North Americans to take with them because it is "easy".
