I am saddened by the proposal to further weaken the ability of people to have access to their heritage in Ontario and Canada. The prioritization of business and development, although important, need not happen at such a rate as to destroy artifacts and history. Enough damage has already been done, ignoring the history and rights of the people who have called this land home since time immemorial. We have come a long way in understanding the rich history of this country, despite so many attempts to alter the true history. It is unjust that people have to prove their ancestor's existence with archaeology, but it happens and unfortunately is necessary. With such narrow mindedness and lack of foresight we will lose more history, culture and national identity which can never be replaced. It is very disappointing.
