I do not support a register first proposal. Registry first removes the necessary checks and balances to first review proposals and assess species at risk. With register first, action can be taken by the register that may have sudden and immediate impact on endangered species before government can review and mediate the proposal. This is a reckless proposal that will have lasting impacts on endangered species in the province. A better approach would be to keep the existing system and better staff the individuals reviewing proposals to expedite turnaround.
