The current approach to the protection and conservation of species at risk is complicated... because protecting wildlife in the face of human influences is complicated. Delays don't become "unnecessary" just because developers don't like them, or don't care about the consequences of their work. The more housing, transit, and critical infrastructure we need to build in Ontario, the more important it becomes to regulate that building through safeguards like the Endangered Species Act. It's not meant to stop progress; it's meant to stop irreparable harm being done along the way.
If your work keeps being prevented or curtailed by the Endangered Species Act, then it probably poses a threat to Endangered Species. The act does make it harder to destroy Ontario's crucial habitats for the sake of profits. The answer is not to dismantle the act and pretend you're not endangering anything.
