I’m writing to say that I strongly oppose Bill 5 and the changes it would bring to the Endangered Species Act. This Bill would make it even harder for species at risk to survive by giving more power to developers and weakening the protections these animals and ecosystems urgently need.
It’s frustrating to see Ontario moving backwards on protecting wildlife and the environment. These changes also show a real lack of respect for Indigenous communities, who have deep ties to the land and the species that live here. Ignoring those relationships is another step away from real reconciliation.
We should be doing everything we can to protect the natural world — not making it easier to destroy it. I urge you to reconsider and scrap Bill 5.
