I am writing to oppose the proposed changes to Ontario’s Endangered Species Act. These changes would weaken protections for the birds and other species that are already in steep decline across the province, and they pose a serious threat to the broader biodiversity that sustains our ecosystems.
A strong, sustainable economy depends on a flourishing ecology. Our natural systems provide essential services that cannot be replaced once lost. Responsible environmental stewardship is not a barrier to prosperity—it is its foundation.
I urge the government to strengthen, not weaken, the Endangered Species Act, and to uphold science-based decision-making that prioritizes conservation and long-term ecological health.
