The government of Ontario has no right to remove species from the EDA for the sake of “sustainable economic growth”. This is just another get-rich quick scheme for uncontrolled land developments on top of critical habitats. Keep your greedy hands off of species at risk and their homes, and perhaps direct your attention to lowering the cost of living through: minimum wage increases, implementing additional taxation on anyone earning more than 150-200k a year, rental caps and laws restricting landlords, refurbishing and reusing existing derelict property in rural and urban settings, or bettering our public transit systems (particularly in the GTA, as we’re WELL behind the rest of the country in that respect) such as buses, subways, and tram/train lines.
The answer to a better economy is not to just build more houses - it also lies in improving the standard and quality of living for your citizens. If you want your blue and white collar workers to compete with other provinces and boost your economy, you have to provide the right incentives and attractive benefits to living in the province - and at the moment, there isn’t much to gloat about.
But please, for the love of God, keep away from critical habitats and endangered species - this is not the way to “strengthen Ontario”, it’s how you destroy it.
