I strongly disapprove of any weakening of protections for endangered species in Ontario. We are in a world-wide climate crisis and biodiversity crisis. Loss of critical green spaces to resource development and urban expansion hurts everyone. Protections for endangered species go well beyond the preservative of individual species of plant or animal. They serve to protect our water and soil, to maintain healthy ecosystems, to mitigate climate change, and to enable First Nations communities to preserve their traditional cultures. More than ever, it is crucial to place people and planet before profits for wealthy developers and corporations.
