This is not only about individual species, but the habitats they represent. Species at Risk are akin to the canary in the coal mine, and a decline in these species is indicative of a reduction in habitat diversity and quality!
The biggest problem here is the line you snuck in about the government having free rein to override any other decision and remove species protections! Thats not what Ontarians want, at all! This is wrong in so many levels and the fact that you're trying to pass this without public referendum or consultation is wrong!

In short:
• Weaker immediate protection
• Narrower habitat definition
• Removal of “harass” from protections
• Government discretion over species protection
• Elimination of mandatory recovery plans
• Fewer advisory and oversight bodies
• Faster project approvals with less review
• Reduced role for SCIENCE in final decisions.

So if i just REGISTER here,I can have it how I want? So I'm registering that this is completely wrong and short-sighted and must stop. Just as you've outlined that registering means an activity can take place, then my request that you stop should take effect immediately.
Let's see if the government is smart enough to come up with a better, science-based approach. NOBODY VOTED FOR THIS NONSENSE!
