I am strongly opposed to the new bill. Protection of endangered species and habitats as well as sustaining and enhancing economic growth are both important. This bill does accomplish either.
The current assessments and restrictions in place for required to maintain the health of endangered species and habitats in Ontario. Allowing this bill to pass will create irreparable damage that generations to come will have to deal with.
A focus on re-zoning existing abandoned infrastructure to accommodate development of affordable housing and development should absolutely be reviewed before ever considering moving into precious habitats with endangered species. Our province is full of abandoned or dilapidated plazas and buildings. Let use the land we've already cleared first.
