I think it's absolutely insane we have to defend ourselves again when we already fought to get an environmental assessment. The dump is less than 1km from Dresden where a high school and elementary school are located. Molly's creek is adjacent to their land, which drains into the Sydenham where we have endangered species at risk. It is not safe to live within 3.5km of a dump and the WHOLE town of Dresden is within 3.5km. How can you not do an environmental assessment when you know you might be putting thousands of residents at risk? I understand why you want to keep these in Ontario and not rely on the USA, but it needs to be done properly to make sure the people, land and air are safe. We trusted that we would get an environmental assessment done like promised and now that Ford is in office, he goes back on his word?? We provided all the reasons why this needed to be done and won this BASIC right, which might be taken away from us. How can we trust the government if they go back on their word we fought so hard for? Who is going to protect us? Ford said if the people of Dresden didn't want this, he wouldn't do it. He is a liar and we need him to follow through with his promises and PROTECT the people of Dresden. I am highly against this Bill. We need to make smart economic decisions that take the environment and people into account.
