Public health is another serious concern for towns near landfills. Airborne contaminants, leachate seepage, and increased truck traffic all pose risks to community health. Children, seniors, and those with chronic illnesses are particularly vulnerable. Building the landfill anyway puts profit or convenience ahead of public safety.
