The concerns expressed to get the assessment has not now changed due to tariffs. If anything it only makes the case stronger as to why to protect this area rich in resources and fresh water supply. Let’s protect our resources and assets and not contaminate with trash and hazardous material.

The removal of an environmental assessment will be catastrophic to the proposed landfill in Dresden Ontario. The citizens of Dresden fought so hard to get an environmental assessment and for good reasons. Read more

This site was never a working landfill. That has already been proven. It receievd ash only! The previous owner has already created numerous environmental and health issues by not following the law. Read more

This is absolutely ludicrous!! The residents of Dresden deserve better than this. York 1 needs to find a more suitable location for a massive landfill, away from a populated area. We all know that this will expand into the largest landfill in Ontario once is is approved. Read more

As a resident of Dresden Ontario I do not support York 1's plan to re-start and drastically scale up a long dormant dump in our community. The site is immediately adjacent to the Sydenham River which flows through several towns, the city of Wallaceburg and the Walpole Island First Nation. Read more

An Environmental Assessment is ABSOLUTELY needed. We have a river, farms, and a town very close by. There's already so many endangered species in the Sydenham River, we should not allow any more to happen. This is also a river people go boating, swimming, and fishing. Read more

The resources, wildlife, and people at risk are too high to remove this assessment. It was put in place originally for a reason. Tariffs are no excuse to compromise any previous listed concerns that the original assessment was issued for.

I think it is ridiculous to put a garbage dump so close to a town. This a small community that will be ruined with the amount of truck traffic that will come through this town. Once this dump is operational it will surely be allowed to expand both in size and what it takes. Read more

This absolutely should not stand, an EA assessment was promised to be conducted to the people due to MASSIVE issues to where they want to put this. This proposed dump/landfill is too close to a highschool, elementary school and a cemetery...Not to mention the citizens itself! Read more

We have spent all this money for the government’s ridiculous carbon tax to “fight climate change” and “better the environment” because it was top priority and all that has been talked about and all of a sudden when an environmental assessment is actually needed for a DUMP that will be 1 km from Dres Read more

Removal of the environmental assessment for York1 near Dresden in Chatham-Kent has SIGNIFICANT impact on the health and welfare of at risk species found along Molly’s Creek which is adjacent to the site as well as the Sydenham River - a heritage waterway. Read more

This is not wanted in the community. There are 2 schools less than a couple of km of the dump! So many endangered animals in the Sydenham River. Not to mention a traffic concern. This absolutely needs a full environmental assessment. People’s health and safety are at risk. Read more

Removing the need for an environmental assessment at this site is incredibly irresponsible, wrong and shady. This site is not an active landfill, and has never actually been so (burrying ash from an incinerator is VERY different from processing trash and construction materials including asbestos). This is a travesty of a decision. To skip an environmental impact study because the federal governments failure to negotiate the tarriff issue is a complete joke. In the midst of an election as well. This situation is being used to york1 advantage and is currupt beyond belief.
