As a resident of Northwestern Ontario, I have seen first hand how cormorants can devestate habitat on islands. As an avid fisherman who fishes on Lake Superior often, there is multiple islands that have virtually been inhabited by these birds. The islands I have seen cannot support anymore vegetation because of the cormorants creating a toxic environment near their nests. I support this hunt with open arms to control the cormorant population.
