I am a resident of Dresden and Vice President of the Kent Federation of Agriculture and I have real concerns about the proposed landfill. Myself, being a huge member of the agriculture community, we are trusted stewards of the land. It is our job to protect and do what is environmental correct to protect our arable soil and water. Without the full Environmental Assessment there is no way to guarantee the protection of our soil and water which is vital to our farming community. As a tomato grower I transport our crop into Dresden. I have real concerns about the truck traffic and how I will be able to get my crop to Dresden safely. We don't have the roads or infrastructure to support our tractors and that volume of trucks. A Full Environmental Assessment is needed to have a necessary traffic study. This will directly affect my living and job. The current farmer of the land that York 1 purchased has always taken the time to put the fertilizer in the ground as opposed to on the surface to protect Molly's Creek. Without the full Environmental Assessment, how can you possibly guarantee the protection of that creek which leads directly to the Sydenham River and could ultimately affect our watershed.
