As a resident of Dresden for the past four years — originally from Windsor — I am writing to express my opposition to the proposed landfill near our town.
One of the things that drew me to Dresden was the peaceful, small-town atmosphere. Coming from a larger city, I truly appreciate the quiet, the close-knit community, and the quality of life that comes with living in a place like this. A massive landfill on the edge of town threatens everything that makes Dresden special.
The increased truck traffic alone will have a serious impact on our daily lives. We have several grandchildren who attend school in town, and the schools are located right along the main roads where these trucks would be driving. This raises real safety concerns. Heavy waste-hauling vehicles sharing the road with school buses, pedestrians, and cyclists is a recipe for disaster.
I’m also very concerned about the environmental impact. A lot of hard work went into mandating an environmental assessment for this project — it was a critical step toward transparency and community protection. It’s extremely troubling that this process is now being ignored or bypassed. Our community deserves answers and environmental safeguards before anything moves forward.
This landfill is not in the best interest of Dresden. It threatens our safety, our environment, and our way of life. Please listen to the voices of local residents and reject this proposal.
