It is encouraging that the government is reviewing water bottling permits. However, allowing current permits to continue to take water will not help protect our water. It is absurd to think that $500 per million litres is even remotely close to compensation of the lasting detrimental effects of the production of bottled water will have when it pollutes our earth and water for decades. I support what the memorandum prohibits but I do not support that it allows current business to continue. Allowing the current permits to continue clearly has a negative result on the environment including our water. It absolutely offensive to think that allowing companies to continue to take water will be beneficial to the research of protecting our water. Bottled water pollutes. And by taking the time to study the effects, the government is wasting precious time that could be used to STOP the bottling of water in Ontario. Do one better than this proposal and STOP the permits allowing water to be taken. STOP the pollution and SAVE our water.
