In light of the extensive urban incursions that have taken place within the Greater Golden Horseshoe, it is very important that our natural heritage systems are identified and protected and that broad linkages are maintained to allow movement of wildlife among core areas.
Corridors significantly wider than the 500 meter criteria specified should be established for most linkages to provide improved connectivity to core areas.
In areas of high fragmentation of natural features, minimum sizes for core areas should be smaller than the 100 hectares specified.
