The cormorant's population may be large, but that does not necessarily mean it is troublesome. Their appetite for other species considered "invasive", such as the goby, shows how they contribute positively to the environment. There seems to be a lot of false information in people's minds about "invasive" species and that the solution is to try to eliminate that species altogether...and when this is done, often by introducing another non-native species to the environment, the environment is disturbed again and people want to kill off that new species that is now on their hit list as "invasive." It is best to let nature take its course in these cases...and focus our energy on things we CAN control, like reducing emissions, etc...the things we should really be worried about with the large looming implications of climate change.
