I strongly OPPOSE Bill 5. As a proud Ontarian, who agrees with millions of others, that our landcape is an integral part of our provincial identity, I strongly advocate for the protection of Ontario’s environment and biodiversity. Bill 5 poses a serious threat to our province’s ecosystems, wildlife, and natural heritage.
The combined effects of weakened legislation and climate pressures will lead to lasting damage to our communities and natural environments. These impacts are often immediate and irreversible.
Premier Ford’s proposal to dismantle the Endangered Species Act and create regulation-free zones for industrial development is a reckless and short-sighted move. Rather than weakening safeguards, Ontario should be leading by example through investing in a resilient, sustainable future that prioritizes environmental responsibility and the well-being of current and future generations.
The Endangered Species Act is one of our most critical tools to protect imperiled species and the natural systems that sustain us. Gutting this legislation would not only bring vulnerable species closer to extinction but would also rob communities of the invaluable benefits that healthy ecosystems provide. Stop Bill 5. Protect our land. Protect our future.
