This legislation is a disgrace to heritage and indigenous culture. Once again allowing construction firms and builders to take precedence over culture and history. You do not know if there is an archaeology site on the premises without consultation and exploration by Nations and Consultant Archaeologists. So many sites and burials will be destroyed if this is passed, it will be a stain on the Ontario PC government and be detrimental to reconciliation. Developers MUST conduct archaeological work, they profit off of a housing crisis, rising cost of living and artificial inflation, yet they are the first to cry about having to pay to protect archaeology sites on land they directly benefit from owning and developing. The government continues to side with big business over its own citizens. This cannot pass, it is a disgrace to allow money and capitalism to bulldoze history and culture.
